Measuring weights, paper mâché, bar graphs and so much more!

KG2 C stars are keeping themselves busy in great hands on activities- they are playing but the best part is that they are learning in the process! They made Shape Pizzas by adding shapes as toppings on their pizzas. We did not stop there! We counted the shapes, added them to a bar graph and answered some questions about them! Great thinking KG2 C!

Also, they compared the weights of different objects using a pan balance! They had fun balancing both sides of the pan balance by putting in or taking away objects from each side until both sides were the 'same'!

For STEM, they had fun making paper mâché! They rolled up their sleeves, and dived straight in to the gooey wheat paste to cover the bowls with paper! The next day they painted their bowls and are now waiting for them to dry so they can take them home! Great work kids!

So much happening in KG2 C!

Readers have been working hard and it is beginning to show! They have fast developed the concept of words, tracking, text direction, sight words and fluency! They are using pictures and initial sounds for cues to figure out challenging words! They are on the path to soon become Super Readers!

In STEM , the students have been exploring different kinds of woods. In the process, we also explored how they absorb water and discovered that some types of woods absorb water while some did NOT. And the the ones which did, the absorption is at a different rate. Interesting!

We further investigated how many paper clips it took to sink a piece of wood. The students conducted the experimented and then tabulated it on a paper! Great work K2 C!!

Phonics song!

Phonics Fun!

We have been listening to this fun phonics song from Leap Frog during snack times in class! The children are loving it - what a great way of learning while singing. Play it at home in order to strengthen the letter sounds and names! Happy Listening :)

End of Unit Celebration in writing and so much more!

WRITERS WORKSHOP

Hooray! We have graduated to becoming writers! KG2 C had their first end of unit celebration (with popcorn and fanfare!)  where the children read their 'books' to the audience! The lights were dimmed and they draped the 'Author's Cape' and narrated their stories to a room full of keen listeners! It was the children's first experience speaking in front of an audience, and I have to say- they NAILED IT! More power to these writers as they grow through the year! Woohoo!

In Math, the students learned about the TRICKY TEENS! And since that day, have been spotting them everywhere in school! They enjoyed playing the 'Teen Tangle' game and got all twisted and tangled while trying to reach out for the teen numbers!

The children are having fun at Maker Space time during the week. They have engaged in group games, creative art, building structures etc. Along with improving cognitive skills- maker space is a time of the day where the children work on social and life skills like working in a group, taking turns, sharing materials and following rules.

KG2 C students have come a long way in working in group dynamics and being part of a partnership! Way to go KG2C!!

Parent Teacher Conference!

We would like to invite you to our first Parent Teacher Conference of the academic year on Thursday, October 17, 2019

If you have not made an appointment yet, please email me for an available slot. Look forward to having a productive meeting with you all.

Another week goes by!

The children have REALLY dived in to the world of books with great zeal and enthusiasm. They have been enjoying reading privately and with partners, eagerly sharing 'Wow' moments they come across books while reading 'Learn About The World' books. In only one week, they have learned to work as partners- supporting each other and cheering for each other all the way! Way to go KG2C- that is the spirit :)

The fun continues at KG2 C!

So much has been going on in KG2C!

In Math, we have been discovering, exploring and playing with 2-D shapes and the children are now familiar with a 'Hexagon' and a 'Trapezoid'.

We have also been working with patterns- both simple and complex! The children worked on recreating the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and extended the increasing pattern in the story by 'feeding' the caterpillar food of their own choice!

We kicked off our Readers' Workshop and the students went around the school as well as in the classroom to look for words that they could read. ALREADY, they are using their fingers to track the words from left to right as well as making words connections with pictures. Way to go KG2C!
