Days of hard work in KG2 C!

The last week has been busy! We have been working on measuring things around the class- looking for objects that were longer, shorter or the same size as a popsicle stick! The children were little scavengers that explored the class corners to add stuff to their baskets!

During another Math activity, they learned about the Chinese puzzle called 'Tangrams' and how seven tans are used to create a tangram. The children made their own tangram art displaying great creativity and imagination!

SAUDI NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS!
The children worked hard on creating a craft in honor of Saudi National Day!
Things got messy as they worked with sand and glue to create a scene right out of the desert. They added camels, cactuses and sand dunes to showcase their personal touch! Way to go KG2 C!

Back to School Night!

All Mothers are invited to attend the upcoming MLS Back to School Night. It will be held on Wednesday, September 18, from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

At this informative, whole school event you will be able to visit your child's classroom, meet their teachers, learn more about the academic curriculum, parent teacher communication, classroom blogs, and other essential school policies and procedures.

Please note that this is not an individual parent teacher conference. It is an opportunity for mothers to visit multiple classrooms, meet all specials teachers and attend at least two different classroom presentations.

The schedule will be as follows:

6:00 pm - 6:15 pm: Arrival of mothers
6:30 pm - 7:00 pm: First opportunity to hear presentation given by the lead teacher in your child's homeroom classroom
7:00 pm- 7:30 pm: Presentation hosted by the MLS Leadership (MLS Gym)
7:30 pm - 8:00 pm: Second opportunity to hear presentation given by the lead teacher in your child's homeroom classroom. (This will be the same presentation as the first)

8:00 pm - 8:30 pm: Explore your child's classrooms and/or visit with specials teachers in their classroom

I look forward to seeing you all there.

First Two Weeks of School!

What a great start to the year! Although the weather continues to be HOT, the children have been cool, calm and composed as they transitioned into the 'BIG' class. The excitement on their faces as they met their 'old' friends after a long time was precious! They have welcomed the new students with open arms- quick to volunteer to become buddies.

We had lots of music and movement in class the first week accompanied by getting to know each other games. Read aloud was part of their day daily, followed by a connection activity. They enjoyed reading "The Kissing Hand" and excitedly took the hands they had created, home to give to their mothers. These books were specifically targeted towards setting them in and making new friends.

They dived straight in to activities displaying their strong fine motor skills- cutting and pasting, taking their pencils through mazes etc.

The children kicked off the Writer's Workshop with great enthusiasm. They had great stories to share and illustrate! They are already seen adding details and labels along with stretching words to identify the many sounds in words.

We have a range of writers in class- some are writing about Dinosaurs, while some are narrating their own experiences of visiting a tot shop, supermarket and even Disneyland!

And guess what! We have named our class, "The SPARKLE CLUB OF WRITERS". Well, that sets the tone for the year! KG2 C is all ready to shine bright! Way to go everyone!
