First Two Weeks of School!

What a great start to the year! Although the weather continues to be HOT, the children have been cool, calm and composed as they transitioned into the 'BIG' class. The excitement on their faces as they met their 'old' friends after a long time was precious! They have welcomed the new students with open arms- quick to volunteer to become buddies.

We had lots of music and movement in class the first week accompanied by getting to know each other games. Read aloud was part of their day daily, followed by a connection activity. They enjoyed reading "The Kissing Hand" and excitedly took the hands they had created, home to give to their mothers. These books were specifically targeted towards setting them in and making new friends.

They dived straight in to activities displaying their strong fine motor skills- cutting and pasting, taking their pencils through mazes etc.

The children kicked off the Writer's Workshop with great enthusiasm. They had great stories to share and illustrate! They are already seen adding details and labels along with stretching words to identify the many sounds in words.

We have a range of writers in class- some are writing about Dinosaurs, while some are narrating their own experiences of visiting a tot shop, supermarket and even Disneyland!

And guess what! We have named our class, "The SPARKLE CLUB OF WRITERS". Well, that sets the tone for the year! KG2 C is all ready to shine bright! Way to go everyone!
